The largest free event in the West of Ireland, the annual Macnas Parade returns to Galway on Sunday 30th October 2016 at 5.30pm, in association with the Latin Quarter.
This year’s parade, Savage Grace, is a restless ballad, a deliriously dark and delicious waltz between love and loss. Hundreds of colourful Macnas volunteer performers will transform and transfix, bringing a birth, a wedding, a funeral and everything in between, to the streets of Galway.
Everyone is invited to come out and play. Audience members are encouraged to dress up in costume and celebrate Samhain, where the membrane between the living and the dead grows thin.
Crowds of over 44,000 people have attended this spectacular event in recent years and similar numbers are expected to turn out in the city centre again this year.
