As you no doubt have heard, this year’s Macnas Halloween Parade takes place in Galway city on Sunday 26th October. At the moment we are sketching and planning our giants and we are looking for materials. So bring out your dead . . . rubbish that is. We are looking for your old junk.
If you think something is of no use anymore, then that’s the thing we want. ‘One person’s trash is another person’s treasure’ and here at Macnas we love recycling, reusing and upcycling. In the past we have made animal skin by manipulating bin bags and given a Cockroach eyes made from tubes and broken bells. This year, more than ever, we want your off-shoots. Newspapers, broken appliances, jars, picture frames, bits of tubes and piping, wood, broken furniture, costume jewellery, gloves, shoes, wellies, flip-flops, broken bikes, broken toys, hats, satelite dishes, wood, empty milk cartons, fruit crates, cardboard, plungers, umbrellas . . . anything and everything. The van will be doing the rounds this Sat and Sun so if you have something you want rid of please do not phone the Macnas office, contact Emma on 087-6728930.
We will only be able to pick up so much within a certain distance of Galway city so please let Emma know what you have, how much of it you have and where you are, and she will let you know whether or not Macnas can swing by this weekend. We are particularly interested in hearing from homes and businesses who have a significant stock of objects of discard.
