Following on from a very successful collaboration in 2011, Macnas have invited three students from IADT Dun Laoghaire to join the Macnas creative team for a three week period in the lead up to the largest Macnas event of the year.
The three students will be working under the direction of Artistic Director Noeline Kavanagh and creative director Pete Casby, creating large and smaller scale props which will form part of This Thunderous Heart parade on the 22nd July. “We are delighted to be in a position to offer three internships to IADT students this year”, says Sharon O’Grady, Macnas Producer. “They will be working with some of the best model makers in the country whilst bringing their own creativity and skill to the process. These students work to a very high standard and many of them have already produced work for performances in Dublin. Last year’s collaboration was the first time Macnas has worked directly with IADT and we were delighted with the work created by the students. We hope that it will be a relationship that will continue to grow and flourish.”
